Storm Bora brings flooding, disruptions across Greece

Storm Bora has caused severe flooding and damage across Greece, leading to over 290 emergency calls by Saturday night.

The fire department reported rescues, water pumping and tree removals in Central Macedonia and on the islands of Lemnos, Chios and Rhodes. In Lemnos, a man’s body was recovered from a swollen creek, and another was found dead in his flooded home. In Rhodes, heavy flooding in the town of Ialyssos prompted over 100 rescue requests, with authorities urging residents to evacuate to higher ground.

Residents in Attica received alerts Saturday warning of strong storms expected through Sunday morning.

Officials warn the severe weather will persist until Monday, urging caution.
