A new opinion poll has found that ruling New Democracy (ND) enjoys a 12-point lead PASOK, an increase of 2.5 points on December.
According to the Alco survey for Alpha TV, New Democracy leads with 26.5%, while PASOK is second with 14.5%. The Communist Party of Greece (KKE) ranks third with 8.6%, followed by the nationalist Greek Solution and leftist SYRIZA, which are both on 7.7%.
The nationalist Voice of Reason is in sixth place with 4.9%, while the populist left-wing Course of Freedom stands at 4% and the religious nationalist party Niki at 3.4%.
The SYRIZA splinter parties Movement for Democracy, which is run by Stefanos Kasselakis, is at 3%, followed by Yanis Varoufakis’ Mera25 on 2.6% and New Left on 1.2%.
Furthermore, when asked if they agreed with Prime Minster Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ nomination of Konstantinos Tasoulas as the next state president, 43% of respondents were in disagreement and 34% in agreement.
The choice was supported by most respondents who described themselves as right-wing or center-right (65% and 66%, respectively), but only received the backing of 30% of centrist voters, 15% of center-left voters and 10% of left-wing voters.
