The Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, delivered a 20-minute eulogy for the late Archbishop Anastasios during his funeral in Tirana on Thursday.
Rama praised Anastasios’ personality and contributions, noting that he came “as a faithful successor of the Apostles in the service of Albania, restoring the Orthodox Church both on a human and spiritual level.”
The Albanian PM added that Anastasios was admired and endured with stoicism the criticism and disputes between Greece and Albania.
“After the opening of the borders, beyond prejudices, no one can question the authenticity of the Archbishop, who contributed to religious dialogue and culture. He came as a bishop from Greece and departed as Anastasios of Albania,” Rama stated.
