«In NYC specifically, things have been very scary. It was very empty for a while and many people have fled to places outside of the city in the suburbs. I live in a big residential building and kept hearing from people that it was half empty – we can see that they are renting similar apartments to ours on high floors for 25% less than what we pay. In different boroughs there were shootings almost daily – some in broad daylight. You could see broken windows and evidence of looting on many streets. My fiancé and I live in the middle of midtown Manhattan and things are starting to look more normal around here, although my mother still does not want us to go out when it’s dark… I think that if Trump wins, there will be a national outcry with even more protesting and rioting and looting. If Biden wins, I expect similar results, but from different factions. I think there is going to be chaos no matter what the outcome is because we are now divided to a point that is extremely dangerous. I read that for NYC, the police department has hundreds of extra policemen on hand for polling locations during the election time – we are being given an extra week prior to election day for early voting. I know that we are going to try to vote during that week (Oct 26 – 30th) to try and avoid huge crowds. We really have no idea what to expect – we are just trying to stay safe and wait it out.»
